Weekly Contest: Now harder to win

Hi guys. Here is my experience of the newly revamped weekly contest.

I used to always get into the top 3 easily, playing one episode per day, which seems to me to be quite enough crushing.

But since we no longer play against our friends this has changed and King group us with players who played as many levels last week as we played, so our opposition is as strong as ourselves, making it harder to win. We can all check on this by viewing their player cards.

I am the pink players (not the one at the top called "me" but the pink cow)

Do we welcome this change as it is fairer to all players?

Or do we hate it because it has now become harder to win? Or is it perhaps easier to win now for some players who don't crush as much as I do?

I am still undecided about this one….

    Level 3

Ugh, I'm experiencing some kind of glitch which has my played new levels set to over 5000 (and no, I have not played so many new levels! I should be at around 150-250 or so).
Hope I don't end up in crazy company next week. 🤓

Do you mean that your score on the Weekly Contest is stating 5000? That would be really interesting as usually it's others who complain about such "cheating". Perhaps you could post a screenshot. Do you play on more than one device? Have you any idea what might be the cause?

    Level 2

I’m currently 7th place in mine with 60 levels.
    1st has 250

    2nd has 201

    3rd has 165

I’m not gonna fall in to the trap of playing more just to try and win it.

    Level 3

I play on only one device, my mobile.

And I have no idea why. Just opened the game, played one or two episodes and boom 5000. No cheating involved, just a weird glitch. I don't like it and want to know my actual score because I do want to win the weekly contest and don't know what that glitch will do.

Thank you @Jumpery . You are only the second player I have heard from here who has reported a nonsense score in their own game. Usually it's the others who complain about who they think must be a cheater. I thought it was related to the merging of accounts, so this is evidence that it is a computing error, a genuine glitch. Unfortunately it does also show that the recent changes to this event have not eliminated this recurring problem King seem unable to fix.

It will be very interesting to see who the game will group you with next week. I take it your player card also states "5000"?

Yes, no merging of accounts occured.

According to my player card I've won 5300 levels which I really did not. 😅

I wasn't grouped with players who played as many levels last week as myself, and faced a tougher opposition from the outset. Monday, player cards: myself 120, opponents 164, 194, 189, 166, 145, 168, 158.

I was, am, and will remain in 8th place.

This system is deeply flawed and a waste of effort. To win, you'll need to push harder and play more than usual, and your reward will be tougher opponents next week. You'll have to push even harder and play even more, and so on, and so forth. In order to break this vicious circle, you must stop or slow down drastically to reset the event. I prefer the previous system, imperfect as it was, thank you very much.

This is exactly correct and I fear that my main game is going to have to go completely into hibernation because of the way that King are changing Candy Crush. I was playing away quite happily at one episode per day up until now. I was winning the weekly race and episode race. Now this is my weekly race:

To top it I have lost the episode race, because I paused playing to check something out for this community, then forgot about it and when I came back to it just a few hours later I found I had already lost it. This is equally new: We used get at least 24 hours to pass the episode race. Now if we don't play in one sitting we could be out.

My latest gold chocolate box demands me to play 3 party poppers and I have no events of any kind to win anything, neither gold nor boosters. There is no way forward and no incentive to play. King have done something very recently to change the event/feature algorithms to encourage players to continually better themselves and pass more and more levels at a faster and faster pace. This can only lead to total burn-out. It's an atrocious way to run a game. I don't know what "sweet new features" they might come up with next…..

OMG. Are they going to turn it into a real-time event? I wouldn't want to lose my 900+ race winning streak, it has cost me too much gold at lower levels. Thanks for the warning.

This is what I am worried about too. I don't care much about the Weekly Contest. I fear they are going to turn the whole game into a continuous and pointless race that you cannot win.

There is definitely something going on with the episode race. I get this event in my latest test game:

I thought only the top players could finish an episode race in half an hour, but they are now encouraging us all to crush at this speed.

Hey! Would you like to give us your opinion?
