New week, newly screwed up rewritten levels. Whenever you think it can't get worse, it still does. Having given up testing early levels after getting bored by all the rewrites I return to my main game and find the mid range is equally ruined by rewritten levels. Mostly those where chocolate has been removed. This is not directly related, but indirectly. At the same time as removing chocolate King computers are rewriting the algorithms to gain further control over the outcome of each level. Unrated level 4875 is now impossible to pass unless the game wants us to pass, which happened to me after six attempts. The first five attempts I was left one lollipop short of passing. This is because moves have been removed to 21, it is a key level and the keys do not drop fast enough even in a best case scenario to win by using our best strategy. So you cannot pass unless the game deliberately drops candies that will explode to remove the key on the same move that it drops. This did happen to me on my sixth attempt. So the algorithm for this level for me just now was: One lollipop short for five attempts, pass on the sixth attempt.
The outcome is inevitable: Play one lollipop or pay 10 gold for extra moves. There are countless levels like this one now, up and down the entire game. This is exactly why the price of lollipop hammers was increased a few weeks ago. It is all part of King's greater plan to turn this game into something quite different, and no longer resembling the puzzle strategy game we once loved. The only strategy or smidgeon of free will left is for us is the option to stop playing this game.
So the next trick being: Get rid of all the chocolate and revamp Volcanic Panic into a Snowstorm version. Such fun!

I have been playing Candy Crush Saga for quite some time (level 8212).
A while back I have seen on several occasions in the end-board (after doing the last move) that not all chains of 3 matching were cleared. In some occasions the last move was the move that caused me to reach the goals of the level with moves left. At other times, the last move as in no more moves left.
At one time it actually cost me to complete the level without buying additional moves. After buying the moves, the engine cleared the chain of candies, and thus completing the level without using any of the moves I bought. .
I haven't seen this glitch in the last time though.
However the last week I'm treated with a new problem and am unable to play the game.
After starting the game and pressing 'Play' on the welcome screen the game locks up like the screen below. This behavior I see on both PC and iPad (9th gen). At first I thought it was due to an upgrade to IOS 18.1.1. My iPhone (13) was upgraded to 18.1.1 too, and there the game still runs. There are some differences though. Different hardware, I don't use an account and progressed to level 1700-something. This afternoon I started to play on a Windows 11-laptop using my Sikkesoft-account and run into the same problem.

If you are right about the level being broken, i.e. the missing fish being a glitch, then that would be strangely reassuring (rather be it a glitch than malicious level design) but either way this level does make it clear beyond a shadow of a doubt how there is compensatory part of the level algorithm which kicks in near the end to decide - no matter what we as players do - whether the level will be passed, failed, or passed if we pay for the extra moves. That is still quite painful to witness. I can see no other way how I could have ended up with this board:

I passed the level because I paid for the extra moves. I then went back into the level because I wanted to take a screenshot of the board to show there was no fish. But to my surprise there was a fish! So the "broken" level was suddenly fixed.
I get what you write about the test version being replaced by the normal version after our first attempt. I can see how they would do that, so that there will not be thousands of complaints! This would be similar to the way that the "no more possible switches" Oops levels automatically resolve themselves on our second attempt and therefore we get surprisingly few players complaining about them. All this would lead me to suspect that Oops levels are deliberate as well. Some here have of course long suspected that.
BTW did you retry or exit then choose the level again. I know the game will check every time you go to the map your current state and can update your grouping and whatnot. Can't say if that was the case here.
To tie to what you were saying, ya King might be able to replace levels on the fly so you got a test version for the first try and the normal version after. That way they can test levels but have less issues with them being broken and stopping people from playing. ie they are busted once and that is it.
I am a bit shocked they would have the ability to do this considering the massive issues they have in general.
Thanks for getting back to me @QueenB . I am sorry but you seem to have misunderstood my original post: There was no fish on my initial opening board. That space right at the bottom of the board where on my screenshot you can see a fish was actually filled with frosting on my opening board on my first attempt at this level. So there were no fishes. I had not enabled any fish boosters either. Of course no one will believe me now because I failed to take a screenshot, but I know that on my first attempt the fishes were absent from this board. Yes, I do get three fishes for each fish played, but if there is no fish then that will be 0 x 3 fishes, which still equals zero fishes.
The game in question is a re-write of the levels without the conveyor belts, which I have found incredibly boring to play. Please also check this thread:
The loss of the conveyor belts is terrible and I think this is a more important issue than the one faulty level I encountered.

The Level Designers checked it out and could not find any issues but wanted to share a quick tip:
Focus on clearing the big square of jelly first, then aim for the fish candies at the very end. This will help them target those tricky corner jellies.
They also wondered if you still get 3 fish from the placed fish?
As for your comments ending up for Approval, I have taken care of this now! Our system had detected some spams and it takes extra precaution until we have had a look at it.

No I'm not making any such assumptions. What I have noted and I am trying to point out here is that the board on my first attempt was a different design to the board on my second and subsequent attempts. Testing or no testing, and I'm sure you are right this one slipped through the net, it probably was an error in the code and should not have been this obvious, but it was there and I saw it! That is what upsets me. That I have seen with my own eyes how the game has created a board that is impossible to pass and then dangles two colour bombs in front of my eyes so I will pay to keep my win streak. I'm sure they didn't want me to see it and will change the level now QueenB has been alerted, but I saw this and am 100% certain that on my first attempt, when I had super colour bombs enabled and was on a top win streak there was no fish on that board but there was frosting instead of the fish, and on my next attempt and when scrolling back in my other games the fish is there. I have never seen anything like this before. It may be automated but this kind of occurrence can only happen if someone has instructed the computer to create a different board on our first attempt, one that will mean we have to pay to pass. And on this occasion the AI found no other way to achieve this than to remove the fish.
I have played the Warcraft games since I created this thread and while doing so my mind has wondered and I have come up with a theory of what may underpin all these recent changes we have seen.
I managed to score 174,600 purple per hour, bringing me to the top of my leaderboard easily of course. I used the following method:
In the past I used to achieve similar scores for purple using my preferred method of using experience and pattern recognition skills to assess the board while I was playing and strategically get the best out of the boards and use boosters wisely.
These boards (levels 1000-1300 so far in my game) as so simple that the only strategy needed is to bash through the many levels the game will make us automatically win without thinking thanks to the starting and win streak boosters and the super colour bombs and then pay your way out of those that the game won't let you win.
This makes me predict this:
Candy Crush is being changed from a puzzle game to a gaming experience.
The New Candy Crush is going to be aimed at the wider audience who wish to be able to make money by playing and have the chance to win cash prizes. So all these changes are really a big test run to see if any Tom Dick or Harry can win All Stars.
The verdict I can give is: Yes they can.
With dumbed down game boards and dumbed down event strategies King can indeed claim that anyone can start to play this game now, and if they are willing to put enough time into it can win All Stars and beat the nerdy experienced players like us. I used to liken All Stars to the Olympic Games: Only someone like Usain Bolt can win the 100 metres at the Olympics, to win at the Olympics takes a combination of hard work and an innate skill or gift. In the past All Stars was similar to this, it took both hard work and an innate ability for pattern recognition to get to the finals. I think King want the New Candy Crush and the New All Stars to become like a School Sports Day or Village Fete: Fun for everyone and everyone gets a chance to win.
Only: It isn't actually fun if it's that easy.

You are making the assumption that they tested or even know what the original mechanics for the level were. I am pretty sure it is just an automated process that no one actually checks.

I got the booster wheel spin jackpot today, and it looks like it's supposed to include everything that shows on the wheel.
