Welp this is it, the last kick at the can.

Rules as always are:

No extra turns
No buying gold
No Hints
Must get to 66 with no lost lives
6 hour sessions, min 1 a day when possible

Now for the burning questions!

Why the odd name? Because email verification is broken again.

What will be your name? Pyrolight, but ya broken.

Which avatar? Some Panda one, and it is terrible.

Was 65 a nightmare? No, for once it was a double colour bomb.

Why now? New Year and the last event ended yesterday.

Have you gotten the new features? Some, some are still old.

Anything else? Yes, the splash screen amuses me I must admit.

P.S. No much of a point restricting newbie image uploads when you can just drag the image into the thread. Seriously SAP would build a more functional forum than these Vanilla wingnuts.

You have just added evidence to what I've been speculating about all the recent changes in the game: Candy Crush is being rewritten in order to incorporate the super colour bomb. King want players to use this new feature and I think chances are it is here to stay in 2025. It does at the same time also mean that keeping your win streak, outside of Candy Royale, is becoming much more of a "thing" in the game than it used to be. It's a clever way to get people to part with their money and for King to control the game. Personally I choose to fight back and I ignore the super colour bomb. If it goes, so be it. Those levels we are meant to fail on our first attempt, the "thou shall not pass" ones, the super colour bombs do nothing to help whatsoever. And most of the other levels you can pass without them. So chances are good that the Alien invasion levels are meant to sell the benefits of the super colour bombs. Just a shame that these levels replace levels that players without the event can pass with no boosters.

The alien invasion is pretty ugly. If you can get a lot of downward stripes, you can often cut through it, and some of the levels have those in significant quantities.

I found that a double super color bomb cuts through these levels pretty well, so I almost always match two color bombs, and if I have superchargers it's generally easy. Otherwise it's usually pretty bad.

That is worse than I had thought! I hope I won' t see this event in my new game. It is so the worst event ever and they keep bringing it back in a new disguise. I don't get it that players put up with it and we hardly hear any complaints. I tried turning the date back to before the event started once to get rid of one of those snowstorm levels. The game did let me pass the normal level version, but there is no way to get rid of this event. It will bounce straight back when you reset the right date and of course messing with the date will wreak havoc with your other events and the Lantern thing would disappear, so we just have to grin and bear it I guess.

@ForumPyrolight Another question: When do the colours revert back to normal? I'm playing and playing and am up to level 128 now and there is no purple candy in sight! I remember I've had a game with those garish bright blues/yellows/reds before, but don' t they turn back to normal at some point?

Sure:

Basically Alien Invasion

Only a few versions are actually "winnable", below as example.
The rest are "pay up levels". Not even we will leave you with one move, it is straight up, pay to pass. So that is 10 gold per episode or wait 45-1 hour for the game to give you a luck level.
The aliens always populate the top row first, then the second row.
They will never land on striped or wrapped
The LOVE to land on color bombs.
Since they are all Legendary/Nightmarish they have low luck
The also make super color bombs almost useless the way they are placed, ie low luck.

They are a terrible mechanic.

That being said I might try one more game since we have an new event. It will be paying to pass levels. See if I can get farther than low 1000s before hitting the 800th brick wall HAHA. They way they changed the game makes hammer play almost useless now as they are do not do much one item left, it is usually 2 or 3 now.

Also maybe I will get a game where the Alien invasion does NOT exist, so my 30 min free hammers are not broken and Top that does not start at 00:00:00

Yes, that is the sad New Candy Crush of 2025…..boredom. Please could you say which version of end of episode levels you do get in Alien Invasion? I haven't played it yet myself. Do you have a screenshot of one such level? How far did you get and how much gold did you end up with?

I love your info as well. That Party Popper comment is interesting. I used to believe years ago that whether we paid or not to play on influenced how we'd get on with the next few levels, but discounted that a long time ago. Maybe it's time to revisit that.

Have you seen any yellow candies dropping on the last move? I have seen these on some levels in the the 5000+ range and still can't work out what exactly causes it. I think it's levels we are meant to fail (legendary, first attempt) but that would have a cascade with bubble gum popping on our last move if it were not for the yellow candies.

Your observation on level 901 is particularly interesting. I noted this on a few levels during my last test run: Some Thou shall not pass (even with boosters and win streak) levels have a different set-up on our first attempt. That's pretty nasty fixing of the gameplay. But then, King can do what they like because they never claim the game is not fixed.

I will be very interested if you manage to make lots of gold again in the coming levels. When I played my last test game I got nowhere and stagnated at around 3000 gold bars all the way up to level 3000. I wondered if they have capped it.

So is the Alien event like the horrible Snowstorm event I complained so much about at the end of last year? I have this i my game and really don't want to play any new levels if that is what it is. Imagine having level 2000 replaced by one of these…

So the weekly wrap-up and Monday funday

The alien event can do unpleasant things to itself. It is objectively a Legendary level at the end of every episode. Additionally it has exceptionally frustrating mechanics. It is MUCH worse than volcanic panic. I will more into it in a separate thread.
Hit 875, or the promised land as far as the early levels go. The 450ish-875 section was me trying to not lose any gold, forget about making any. Honestly I don't care if that entire section was replaced with levels that took a single move, it would be an improvement. Bored is better than bored and in a state of constant rage :D
Not much more to say, the 200 to 900 section is still hot garbage.

Other observations and Monday

Top That! was expired when I started the game.
I got the candy smash event, 20 min version, rewards were 1 hammer, 1 switch, 1 bomb, 1 striped/wrapped.
I noticed using a party booster seems to give "luck" for a few levels.
Also now when you replay an old level, after you will the next button is shaded if the next level is not new.
On level 901, the first time I played, all the keys had licorice covering them. After loosing, including the super bomb, "you shall not pass level", the next time all the keys were not covered in licorice.
My cat wants me to play with her so she is being impossibly cute.

So for Day 3

Win Streak bags are just weird before they all max out
Yup had 3 supercharged color bombs for a bit. That was kinda hilarious.
The Alien event started on 261, also it seems to be a non seasonal monthly thing based on the days left being 18 which goes to the first Sunday in Feb.

New versions of 1-50, so far everything else to 200 was old versions.

It's good to hear that your frosting is the old one. I still haven't got used to that marshmallow type stuff.
They are clearly in an experimenting phase with the game. Let us know if you see any conveyor belts in your levels when you get to that stage.

Will be interesting to see. Today or tomorrow will be the real test. I find the first few days on windows can be very different than the "update" day.

That being said, I have a feeling I will have the old levels.

That's all very interesting and does not surprise me at all as I was expecting King to start off January with trying to win new players to the game with easy early levels. Win streak broke at 75, pretty normal.
Got a 6 stage Win Streak, 9 for Egg.
New Player Card.
Old Frosting.
No Free UFOs nor Party Popper as normal for Windows version.
Seems like cascades are changed again. On 92 after losing, too many licorice left, it did the post win/loss cascade before all the licorice had come onto the screen and some more was actually cleared post loss. Feels very awkward.
Chocolate box started @ 93. That is pretty random.
So the game has been playing quite easy. Interesting to see what it is like when there are no events active raising the base difficulty level.
Got just past 200, 205 was a hilarious color bomb + wrapped clearing out a ton of icing. The game was being too nice on that one. Usually I do not get to 200 from 66 in one session but as I say, no events so the levels were not more difficult than they should be.
