sorry if this is old news, but it’s the first time my chocolate box options have included “in new level wins”
I really don’t like this development (considering that some of the week some of us don’t have new levels to win…)

Charleyfarley I totally agree about the lollipops/switches. Way better than anything requiring new levels. For end of map, basically it seems like you have a chance to get 2 or 3 boxes done if you're lucky before being forced to do a bunch of new levels.
The new version of the chocolate box really is a mixed bag. I’ve had one box (gold) where at least one chocolate had all tasks as coloured candies in new levels won - I got stuck with 2960 purple candies in new wins, a totally unreasonable ask. Took me a whole episode to complete at a heavy price.
Since then, I’ve had chocs that have a mixture of old and new level candies, accompanied by new tasks ; using a selection of boosters (30) before game starts and 30 free lives awarded (not sure what this is). I’m still waiting for the relatively easy task of double-boosters option which others have had.
Whereas previously I would’ve bypassed the 5/7 lollipops/switches task, I now grab them with both hands rather than get stuck with the unplayed new levels, new levels won on 1st try, or the candies won on new levels nightmare.
It would make sense to allow levels won in the Star tournament to be included in these but hey, when did sense play a part in King’s decisions ?

Unfortunately the colored candies on new level wins options do NOT work with the Star Tournament. I am worried about my current task (960 red candies on new level wins). But most of the other tasks seem to be working in the Star Tournament.

Late reply @Charleyfarley, I don’t know about the other two boxes (and hopefully I won’t find out anytime soon) as I’ve managed to hang onto the Gold one. I too got the utterly pointless popup this week and feared the worst but from the three boxes I’ve had time to play since then, it seems like I still have the old version, though I can’t be sure since I was able to choose the first option for each task. I dread the thought of getting those ‘new level wins’ tasks when I don’t have any to play.
But THIS, from @Nobody1, on the subject of choosing certain starting boosters, was a little glimmer of hope:

Could it be that what we all want, ie for the Star Tournament levels to count, might actually happen? Or have I just been infected by @Carol-38’s eternal optimism? 😁
🤣 We need a bit of laugh every now and again don't we @Alienscar the way the game is now. Just wish they would take a little bit of notice of what we all keep saying. I just can't work out their way of thinking, oops I'm starting to get serious now 🤭

I've got the same 'What's it all about' change. They have the ability to do ridiculous non helpful, non needed changes like this. But not the ability to understand all the well meant feedback on what would start making the game fun again. Shame on whoever is making the decisions 🥴🤐🤐

What an absolutely unnecessary and useless change.
Give us what we want, the ability to see each task contained within a Chocolate Box so that we can choose without risk of getting stuck.
I can't believe/understand why we have lost the Fantastic Five, the leaderboard score, the send lives to all button under the premise that they had to be removed to make space for new and better features. Nothing we have received has been an improvement.
Also, it would be nice for the tasks that require new levels to be able to be finished within Star Tournament as this one is similar to new levels in terms of how other events like Factory Frenzy work specifically the candy collection in new level wins tasks so players at the end of the map can still progress the Chocolate box event.

Agreed. I somehow need to get 980 red candies on new levels. I'm wondering if it will even be possible with the 60 new levels on Wednesday - there's no guarantee they will be providing a decent number of red candies in those.
At the top of the map and no way to complete the new chocolate box task you would think the logical thing to do is to make the star tournament count as new levels

It is now more and more hard to get free booster and gold bar, and it is very hard to pass a level without using boosters, candy crush is not interesting anymore, this game only want us to pay money to pass level.
May I ask you about your last screenshot? Is that task need to pass an old level to finish one? Is the timed booster counts?
I completed a third chocolate box right away; the last option was 34 starting boosters, which I used in the Star Tournament. Keep in mind those boosters are practically free for someone who watches lots of ads; I have over 3000 of color bombs and striped/wrapped saved with no way to ever use them all. So that is an easy task for me.
Unfortunately I finally had bad luck on the fourth chocolate box: all 4 choices were candies in new level wins. I need 960 red candies on new levels now; I have to wait for Wednesday to do any more.
I got the instructions and the changes but not the new Chocolate Box tasks so I'm in a hybrid of the previous and the new experience. Still having collect <color> candies task in Gold Box and no extra bars from the last task but having the the ability to press on the box itself to show the four chocolate box levels.
Okay, I've been working on these today and so far it has been surprisingly great for me.
My first item:
Obviously avoid anything with new levels, so I went with the 9 free switches. This is obviously awful if you don't have ads, but I do, so while it's not great, it's okay. And I was still in the last episode race at this point, so I used most of them there - not bad. Second item I forgot to capture, but my second choice was just wrapped candies, so I went to my goto level and did those quick. Third item:
I skipped the above 2 and then got color bombs, which again I did with old levels. (Forgot to capture it.) Again easy. Fourth item:
I assumed this would require new levels so I skipped it and got this:
Wow, what an easy one for fourth item! There is a really good old level for this that you can complete in about 30 to 40 seconds every time which can easily average 3 double color bombs per time, so this didn't take long. A pretty easy chocolate box overall!
I won't bother with screenshots for the second chocolate box except for unusual ones. For my first item I skipped color candies on new levels twice and then got wrapped candies (old levels). Second item, again I skipped color candies on new levels twice and got stripes (old levels). Third item I right away got color bombs (old levels). Fourth item, first I got unplayed levels, then I got this:
This works for both old levels and for Star Tournament levels! I did some of each (working on baker's box), and easily finished a second one.
The third one is off to a good start too! It's kind of unbelievable so far, although I know eventually I will hit an item where all 4 choices require new levels. So far so good, though! I've finally gotten above 30000 gold bars in my inventory thanks to this!
I’ve 43 pins to get. I had been spending sparks at 40 to extend it, but yeah I might have to go with 80 and the guaranteed new one. Still nearly 4 weeks to go though so I think I’ll be OK
