How do you do it?

Like many of you, I've gotten so bored with this game that I need to come up with my own little challenges and goals to get any fun out of the game. I just won the latest tournament for 100 gold bars but believe me, I got a lucky board b/c I probably only played 4 hours total over the 2 days (just don't have time to devote to playing more than that) and scored just under 700,000 pts. Having said that, I wanted to see how many points I could score in an hour and, as you can see, I didn't do very well compared to what I'm seeing from others. Seriously, how do you do it? If I can get 100k - 150k I'm lucky and that is even difficult.

Thanks Christine, appreciate the kind words. As for next April (all-stars), not too worried about it. I usually get the tournament and participate but I can't devote the time to really be a contender even if I had the skill (which I don't). This is the first time I've won any of these types of events so was interested to know how to improve for these shorter term events which fit more into my life style.

I think that 150K is in fact a really good hourly score you should be pleased with. It's enough to beat most players in a leaderboard sprint. Winning your leaderboard and scoring so much in just 4 hours is quite impressive. Don't forget that only a small minority of players can reach the speed heights of 200K +. What you read about in the community is not representative of players as a whole. Besides, it really does very much depend on which levels you are playing at and how wastefully you play. To reach the highest sprint scores you will waste more boosters and gold than you could possibly win back, so it's not something I would recommend doing unless you are playing for a cash prize. Some level ranges are much higher scoring than others, though I cannot tell for sure which ones are best for orange candies specifically.

But to answer your question anyway:

My method to achieve my personal top crushing speed is to have plenty of gold and strong boosters, and preferably the super charger. I keep hints turned on, just in case my eyes are too slow to spot the best move. I play starting colour bomb and wrap + stripe.

On the harder boards, a double colour bomb combo is the best first move, or any colour bomb combo or wrap+ stripe combo. As soon as I see no good move on the board I use a party popper to open things up. That often will cause cascades and bring some luck for the remainder of the level. With win streak and starting boosters often this is not necessary. In my latest test run I used a different strategy in the easy mid section of each episode, which gives us easy boards that self terminate. I avoided double colour bomb combos but played wrap + stripe as a first move when available and after that solely concentrated on the bottom half of the boards once the board was opened up. I try to make special candies and combos if I see them, but it's not essential, the easy boards will finish by themselves sooner or later so I just match candies as quickly as my finger let me. When you see Yeti tap the screen, tap the skip and tap through all the pop-ups as quickly as you can.

King control everything including the length of the pop-ups and the possible candy count per episode, so this will affect everyone's top speed. If this control gets tightened and the game continues to be stream-lined across all the levels, who knows how much any of us will be able to score by next April. It might all just be down to how fast your fingers can swipe, no strategy required.
