I am near despair @QueenB as I am playing yet another new player test game. It started off so well with enjoyable levels 101-275. There is new jelly fish behaviour, which actually improves the game. The fact that these fish eat other fish and clear red candies on levels such as 182 is a real improvement. Those fish should get rolled out to all players. I also like the shiny graphics and the way they whoosh across the board purposefully.
However, and there always has come a "however", from episode 276 onwards I am finding that luck has suddenly been withdrawn and I am no longer getting rewarded for playing my best strategy. In fact it started with this level:
This is the board after I paid 10 gold bars for extra moves. So these two colour bomb combos dropped on my last move. This is such an obvious, in your face, statement which other players (hugyourdog) have also noted on these Concert Chaos levels: It tells players "no matter what moves you make you can't pass this level but we will let you win if you pay". Clearly some levels are now pay gold to pass and I have long realised this and advised players that Candy Crush is about budgeting gold now.
However, the difference between easy and pay-to-pass levels is widening week by week and this is not enjoyable. This account had a run of early ridiculously easy Concert Chaos levels which only took three or four moves to finish and every level in some episodes were so easy to pass all I had to do was follow the hints, right to the last move. This makes players feel that they are not in control of their games but simply spectators.
So here I now come to the one level that has really upset me today:
I have attempted this level five times and this is following my fishing boat offer to play on, hence the timed boosters. I ticked the colour bomb as well here to try aid my luck. Surely this should be what the game intends me to do. The board looks like this:

This double colour bomb combo looks like it's my lucky day after all. On the next board I have the chance to make a colour bomb and it will sit next to the wrap! That is a a lucky board, surely!

This board above is a telltale recognisable lucky board. I should pass this level now. There are multiple chances to make wrap + stripe combos. One year ago, before the AI ruined this game, we would have passed from here on:
I make the wrap + stripe combo expecting to get more luck in the candies that drop.
All I would need is for the luck to continue for two more moves. One jelly fish to drop, one colour bomb to form, a stripe to form and fire off, that kind of luck we have seen in Candy Crush for years and years at such a moment as this.

In fact I can see the striped candy at the top which should have gone off to pass this board. That is what would have happened in 2024, in 2023, in 2022 on a board like this: there would have been a cascade to drop candies to destroy that last frosting. Watch any Johnny Crush YouTube video and you will see such boards. It used to happen in previous years all the time and it is what made the game fun and enjoyable and satisfying to play.
But in November 2025 we are left one candy short even though I made all the best moves. So this is exactly why I now hate this game, and so do so many other players: Skill and strategy has become completely irrelevant. Players are powerless. The game has full control.
We need lucky boards back.
We need to be rewarded for making the best available moves.
We need to be able to win boards by using boosters strategically.
These new algorithms suck, they are R U B B I S H

Of course I have the gold to pay, but that is so not the point: I want to pass this level because I deserve it, because I played the right moves or played the right boosters.
