Unable to play when offline.
If you are talking about offline playing All Stars, it's OK according to the Terms and Conditions. It's fair because everyone can play offline whenever you want. Offline playing is also one of the selling point of this game: "No Wifi needed". Some village in the USA has a bad internet connection in some seasons. One of my friends who lives in Utah had half day internet three days last week due to bad weather.
I would think that is borderline unfair play being that no one can challenge that score until it is posted and sometimes people will wait till there is very little time left to post their score after they have played offline for a long time and created a huge score
The offline player doesn't know other players' scores as well, because he cannot see the leaderboard. He is challenging himself and makes a record for his own. He is also at risk due to score loss while offline playing, this risk has been stated in the T&C.

About playing offline and adding your score to the leaderboard later, I was referring specifically to tournaments and other large events where real life prizes and cash are given out
Hi , why is it legal to play offline then bring this huge score but no one can see and be able to challenge? same thing here! As soon as I go offline, I open my game and everything looks normal until I tap to play and it is totally unresponsive. Going on holiday later. Will be gutted if I can’t play on the plane!
Im having the same issue, also started about a month ago same as OP, and I have a Galaxy S23 (OP had a galaxy S24)
Game works perfectly while I'm online/on data, and it's synched to my account. But as soon as I'm offline, the app loads and the map loads, but clicking on my latest level number doesn't open the game, again similar symptom as OP.
So this is definitely some candy crush app issue, not an issue with OP since atleast three people here have mentioned it

Hello @Chrisputnam you should never uninstall your game as this deletes all your game data from your device along with any progress in your Events.
No one else has reported any issues playing offline, so the issue might resolve itself for you. How is your game behaving now?
Well, I un-installed and re-installed and it worked for a minute offline then stopped again. 🙄 Of course I lost all the extra lives sent to me in the process as well. Phone is the Galaxy S24+ in case anyone is wondering.
I can try to uninstall and re-install the app I guess but I'm worried I'll lose my progress cause it's a new phone. 😒
It opens up like normal but the game does not respond when I tap anywhere to play or for lives or anything. Only does it when offline. As soon as I have service it works normal.
What do you mean by you can't play @Chrisputnam Is your game not starting?
The game should definitely work offline. You won't be able to participate in live events and other events, such as the episode race will only load if you play the first level connected to the internet. You also cannot access the app store to use your gold bars offline. However, if you close the game and then go offline and open the game it should work. If it does not for you, what screen do get when you try to open the game? In fact for me the game loads more quickly when I open it in offline mode than when I open the app connected to the internet.
That doesn't work. Used to be able to play when I have no data connection and now I haven't been able to for a few days. Just wondering if it's just me or a new thing?
