I have found a workaround to continue participating in the second knockouts. I have posted the workaround as a YouTube video.
I am also fortunate to tell that in my group of ten, none of them have hexed their way, and I only fell to second place.
The glitch
This glitch is game-breaking to those affected by it. Furthermore, new levels completed under this glitch will not count towards All Stars. It is unknown if it will affect future stages. This glitch is independent of platform: I have posted the footage on YouTube for both the mobile and the Windows app.
The hallmark of this glitch is, in the map view, the All Stars widget is both
- Showing a dash as your position
- Missing the countdown timer
In the Events view (due to be phased out), the All Stars headlined entry displays
- Qualified, and nothing else.
A possible evidence that this dash glitch comes into play is that the player is falsely classified as being in the first knockouts when in reality they are in the second knockouts.
The workaround
I have posted this workaround as a YouTube video. The workaround has three steps starting with the app closed.
Step 0: Exit app
Very simple, you just exit the app if the app is already on.
Step 1: Disconnect internet
Very simple, just go offline.
Step 2: Start app
With the internet disconnect, you start the game again.
Notice that your widget will show that your position is a dash, but the countdown timer is present.
The widget will now respond if you click on it, showing the number of blue candies counted so far, and your currect stage.
Step 3: Reconnect app
While in the map view, reconnect your device. Your All Stars should be activated.
You do not need to click on the widget for the reconnection to work.
Note
You must start your app with the internet disconnected. If you start your app with your app connected, you cannot recover All Stars by disconnecting, then reconnecting.
It is possible for this method to fail. In this case, your rank would still be displayed, but the countdown would be omitted. You can click on the widget, but the leaderboard will say "calculating results" and will mix up with that of the previous knockouts (observed on Sunday).
It is possible for the reconnecction and reactivation to succeed, but fail again and revert to the state below after completing a new level (observed on Sunday). You could lose progress due to this glitch!
If this happens, you may have to complete a few levels offline, then attempt reconnect.
My progress
I should be able to complete the Critter Catch and get the Double Candy Royale with the Double Colour Bomb for the last day, and reclaim the lead.
However, the hardest part is to ensure there is nobody hexing for the top position, especially in the final three hours. I should also be able to claim gold again on the weekly contest, but I may have to use the contest prizes if someone decides to return to the gain to take my place.
