How to reply to posts 👀 & Tagging

For those unsure on how to reply to posts after the update from last year, or if you are new to the Community, please see below.

You can either reply using the blank 'Leave a Comment' box at the top.

Or if you want to reply to a particular post, click on the Two Eyes (Quote) at the right of the person's name ⬇️

By clicking on the Two Eyes (Quote) it will open a new box with that person's post showing at the top, you can then add your reply, then post.

Tagging is also good to use. It is used to make sure the person you are sending a message to gets notified. Without it you may be wasting your time, if the person you are replying to, doesn't know you have sent them a message. If you haven't used Tags before, this is how it's done.

Once you've opened the box to make a reply, you first need to click on an @ then you start typing the name of the person, a box will appear with the person's name

Click on their name and it will enter it in your post in green

Once you've completed your post and sent it, the person you tagged, should receive an email notification that they have a new message.

I would be very annoyed by emails, I haven't set that up. Because I get enough emails and want to review them carefully. When I'm here, I first check the notifications. Then I deal with them one by one.

I'm sure it does go in the notification bell @Spinnifix but how many know to keep looking at that, and it takes more time. I certainly don't, it's much more helpful when getting notifications via email, then I know to come to the Community and check what's been posted. I think it's more what we get used to doing, and what's best for each individual. As I said I will always 'Tag' just to make sure 👍

As you've seen, I don't always make the marking. I always tell myself, you can see it in the notifications - bell. It depends on the settings of the notifications. So I thought, you'll see that someone has commented.

Hi @Spinnifix thank you for your comments. I put this together because unfortunately it has never been made clear, that the Two Eyes (Quote) is for replying to a specific post.

The only difference from the old way, last year, and now, is how it is displayed. Other than that it does the same thing, keeping threads neat, tidy, and in order.

I put about how to 'Tag' and I know you know how to do that. But even using whatever reply, we don't always get notified if a 'Tag' has not been used. So however I reply to someone, I always 'Tag' them as well, just to make sure they know I have replied, or sent them a message 🙃

I haven't been here for 2 years and a lot has changed, and even I didn't know about it.

Thanks to your comment, I understood it and was able to handle it better. I'm very grateful for that.

It used to be in a corner downstairs, as far as I can remember.

Is there still a comparison between the old comment field and the new one?

A comparison would be nice.

It was removed yesterday @HM100 as the majority who reply regularly in the Community, didn't like the sub-thread replies that was created last October. So we are now back to sensible answering of posts, using what we used before, but disguised as something else now. And the disguise is the Two Eyes (Quote) that I have shown above.

You were able to reply to individual comments in each forum post using the reply option (Making a deeper post inside an existing one) but has been gone as of today.
