I just tried it on a different computer with a different operating system and I beat the level first try. Everything worked the way it should have. Not sure why it works differently on different OSs, but there you have it. FYI, the computer that worked is running Windows 8, not working on Windows 10.

@burbot If you're still having trouble with the level, would you be able to add a quick video of the issue?
If you have a Windows 10 machine you can also play the game on the Windows 10 app if you want a quick work around.. You can download it from here. Once you have done that, simply connect the game to your Facebook account in order to pick up the game where you left off.
