The device should restart after updating the game app.
Your game is probably not connected to the server right now so you are experiencing issues.
Log out game > Restart device > Open game & Log in.

What is app version?

There is probably a problem with your game app.You can uninstall the game app then reinstall it.

You will lose all the stored boosters to do this, but will regain your gold bars and game progress.

I hope this can solve your problem.
