I have same problem but I don’t understand your instructions...
how and where to I check the app update
logging out of game is just Xing it and closing candy crush?
and I know how to open the game but I’ve never had to log into it?
please help me with these questions because I haven’t had my Facebook friends since January.

Close your game and then reopen it. Before pushing play click on "my profile" and scroll down to log out. Then close and open your game again and you will be prompted to log in with your Facebook account. I hope this helps.
