This is unfortunately true. I’ve never understood what satisfaction is possibly obtainable by spending actual money on “beating” virtual levels and/or by purchasing whimsical fantasy “goods” to further the same agenda. Do players feel somehow superior by doing this and caving into the clearly greedy developers’ ploys?
Yes, definitely valid @Dirty_Nurse This is the only game I play. Tried other games in the past, but you end up jumping from one to the other. My play time is also way less. Spend more time in the community now, reading posts.
The addiction is real and I am also weaning myself off it.
As you say, there is an addiction factor to these games which - as anyone with even one brain cell can see - Activision is trying to take advantage of as everyone has nothing better to do than be online on their various devices.
In my local area businesses are doing whatever they can to help out while at the same time earning profits. Activision however is doing whatever it can to bilk less-than-intelligent money-spending players for all they’re worth while ”offering” things like completely useless infinite lives as they take away actual useful features. I’m sure I’m not the only one that notices this...
@Dirty_Nurse It's no use telling anyone to stop. As you say many are addicted. Some that aren't quite at that stage log in daily to collect boosters in the hope that one day they may be able to use them. Some play the game as it was originally intended on the low levels that are possible with what was originally available. Some have a competitive spirit and play to beat personal targets or challenges (I'm really tempted to do the Dexter's rocket thing)
Playing games is a personal choice, it isn't forced on anyone and as the game gets less and less enjoyable more players will stop and find something else that they do enjoy doing with their time, naturally. I personally know quite a few that already have and they didn't even know that this community exists.

If anyone is still doing that (especially after reading up on the info found here & other places on the Interwebz), they are suckers; plain & simple.
So folks, stay informed & vigilant (& also safe, nowadays)...
