I had at least 4 hours of free play left, and it disappeared in the middle of playing. Never mind, I just finished the next level and have hours of free play waiting for my next login I tried to delete this whole question, but it would not allow me to.
Thanks for letting us know the unlimited lives made a return! I can remove this for you if you like, I just thought it might be useful to keep in case someone has a similar experience.
