My fish disappear...

I play on my iphone and my ipad... Up until recently, anytime I try to use a fish booster at the beginning of a round, the fish will come out like they will start with the game and then they disappear. I tried updating the game and this did not solve the issue. Any ideas to help solve this would be great!
