Game has been greyed out and "waiting" to update for more than 36 hours now

Over 36 hours ago my game became greyed out as it waited to download the latest update, nothing has happened since, and I have been unable to play. Up until then I had an unbroken streak of 35 days of play, because of the issue with the download I missed the whole of yesterday, so will have to begin again for the bonuses. I have tried pausing then restarting the download to no avail. Help
