Why are my gold bars disappearing?

Lately, my gold bar balance has been dropping in increments of 10 in spite of the fact that I haven't been using them. I'm playing on an iPhone and iPad mini. So far I think I've lost about 40 gold bars this way. I'd appreciate some assistance in getting them back. Thank you.
