Purchased gold bars to continue playing and got nothing?

I purchased 15 gold bars to continue playing a level I was about to complete (I had 6, needs 9 to continue playing).  The purchase was successful and went through immediately,emailed receipt and all, but my bars stayed at 6 qty. and the same "use 9 gold bars to continue" stayed popped up forcing to me to lose progress anyway even though I wanted to play on.  What gives? I can't tell if I just didn't receive my bars or if the game used them immediately and just didn't let me continue on anyway?
