winning levels but using lives?

I am having an issue with my lives being used after I finish and beat a level. It's happened several times now.

hi,yes it makes sense but it's taking away lives even when I'm passing levels. Several times now I've had 1-2 lives left, passed the level I'm on and go to move onto the next level and I have no lives at all.
