Candy Crush Soda - Losing active game progress when swapping between apps on iPad

I used to be able to swap back and forth between Candy Crush Soda and other iPad apps (i.e. email, text, etc.) and not lose progress on my active game. Today (10/6/21) when I swap over to answer a text in the middle of a Soda Crush game and then swap back to Soda Crush, the app completely restarts and I lose my active game. Anyone else having this problem?

I had to shut everything down twice before it would work again. It was just happening with the Candy Crush app. Thanks for the response!
