Why does timer on PURCHASED boosters (6 hours this time) run down whether or not I'm playing?

I'm not at all happy. If this is right then I want a refund and I will not be purchasing in-vame any more. It's a rip off!

I'm talking about when I leave the app altogether. The timer should of course stop. This is not an "ideas" topic. This is about taking my good money and not giving me what I paid for. I am very interested to hear an explanation for why King thinks this is a valid policy.

As I previously stated I will no longer make in-game purchases. I am actually considering whether I should support this app at all. As a very long standing player it is a decision I will find hard to make but this policy is utterly unacceptable. I am hardly expected to play for 6 hours straight to ensure I get my money's worth.
