Joining your friends team

Hello all you game experts,

I need help joining a friend's team. She told me the name of her team, I did a search and found it, but I don't see her on the same team. I would like to know if it matters if I have a hotmail account and she has a facebook account if that is why we cannot connect and synchronize on the same team. My friend suggested that I open a facebook account only for the candy crush game that we can probably connect easier that way. I took her advice and opened a facebook account, but now am thinking I will not be at the same level I am at right now with my hotmail account by doing that. So right now I have 2 accounts.

How can I join my friends team and with which account without me losing the level that I am at right now?
