Old VS New Companions - Which one do you prefer?

I will give the new Companion a chance if improvements are made

After playing for a while I find I prefer the old companions.

Reasons

more control over game play with old companions

new companions do not activate consistently.

more choice with old to let you play more successfully.

i definitely can finish a level more quickly with old companions than with new.

also reduction in beans is annoying as they are used for shovels!
