How Do I Continue to Play Without Joining A Team?

This whole team thing has become very annoying. All of a sudden at level 436 I am being hammered to join a team. I don’t want to join a team, I just want to play the darn game. Every time I click to start level 436, I end up being taken around in circles about friends and expanding my circle. How do I play the game without having to amass a bunch of friends?

You can leave teams, see below, I'm not sure if you get assigned to another or what happens though, as I don't want to leave and find out. My team is a good one, we always get all the prize
