My family normally starts Advent, meaning waiting for the Lord to come.
1st Sunday of Advent - Hope
2nd Sunday of Advent - Peace
3rd Sunday of Advent - Joy
4th Sunday of Advent - Love
It normally begins in December, and some years, Advent starts in Late-November.
During Advent, my family celebrates The Immaculate Conception on December 8th, Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 11th and 12th, My Parish and Ministry normally they have a Procession, and a Midnight Mass. Before, they did it near Starlight Reasturant but got removed and now in the present they do it at my parish.
During my years in elementary school, I wasn't able to stay up for the midnight mass. That was during 2016 to 2021 and during the pandemic it was discontinued but was recontinued last year.
I got a chance this year and I stayed up for the midnight mass and ate some delicious Mexican food!
We gather with our 5 children and our grandchildren, eat, laugh, exchange gifts and spend the day just enjoying being together.
The fact that we don't get many opportunities to have all of us together, makes it all the more special.
So sorry hear about your husband. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery ππ½ππ½ππ½.
Hi @Lynette
I used to host Christmas Eve every year until my son became an adult. I made sure my son woke up in our house Christmas morning. I used to cook a feast for the family and we used to party until early the next day (2:00am-3:00). After I cleaned up in the kitchen, it was time to gather the gift and put them under the Christmas tree. I used to love to see my son get so excited when we came down and see all the gifts. He would yell, β Santa came, Santa came!!!β My son was 9 years old when he found out the truth about Santa, he was so depressed.
I still kept the tradition of put the gifts under the tree after my son went to bed on Christmas Eve. My son believed that I would go shopping for gifts after our Christmas Eve party. He finally figured it out when he was 16 years old, that I would hide the gives all over the house. π
I love to spend holidays with my girls now there older and about to be a grandma itβs with extra family so itβs beautiful to see positively beautiful family growth
happy holidays everyone

I really don't have any traditions anymore. My Son and Daughter are in their 20's and pop in at their leisure.
My fondest memories and traditions were when I was little and into my early adulthood.
When I was little every year I would go to my Nana's and we would decorate everything . The most exciting part for me was when we put the train up ....she had so much for that train . It would be put on the dining room table. Then when my Brother's got older they would help.
On my Italian side of the Family until my Grandma passed we had a large dinner Christmas Eve dinner. EVERYTHING was homemade including her pasta. Then we would do gifts. Merry Christmas Everyone xx
