Update from this morning's little test. I carried on playing Candy Royale on the apparently easier device, the iPhone, to the finish and won 87 gold. In fact the "use boosters during levels" task counts all boosters used during a level, not just those depicted on the image. So timed UFOs can be used for this task, as can a timed party popper or the timed striped brush you might get from the weekly race chest.
