Why when I get over 100 boosters I lose them on my IPad and how do I get them back.?

For the past few weeks, a random player (not on my list of friends) will suddenly pass a ton of levels & end up winning the 1st place boosters. I play quite a bit, so l would normally win once or twice a month. I'm OK with losing to other players, especially those friends that l send frequent lives to. But it's frustrating…
