Thanks guys. I am so stumped on this so I appreciate all your responses. I also noticed that @Spinnifix has posted something similar to this here. This story is going to be so confusing for me unless I get it straightened out. Thanks to all who responded! I am wondering if I am trying to look too deep into culture. First question for all of you here, would you mind if I do a print screen of your responses and post it in the story? I don't think players will really be able to read all that you wrote because I might group the responses into an image but I want your permission that it's ok.

Third, I am still confused so below is one paragraph that I got from an article and I want to question it with all of you here.

All cultures and societies of the world have their unique customs and traditions that have evolved over a long period of time. Every society devises ways to maintain peace and order among its people and also to serve as a guide for interaction between the members of the society. Many people talk about customs and traditions as if they are one and the same thing. This is because of the fact that the two terms are used in the same breath and also because dictionaries treat them as similar meaning words.

So from what the paragraph said the only difference between tradition and custom is the length of time. Custom being the longer of the two, I'm still a bit confused about culture. Let's take a country as an example. I can't use the USA because I can't see the comparisons. When I think of this country I think more in terms of family cultures or religious cultures and traditions. Please let me give you an example. I've been watching a lot of Netflix lately and my favorite stories are the ones from Turkey. They have ?? that when they walk into their house or someone else's house they take off their shoes. So thinking in terms of a country what is it? A culture of Turkey or a tradition of a country or would that be a family custom?? I will probably confuse all of you here. Now in those stories they also drink tea out of a little glass which is not the problem but what I'm noticing is that as soon as someone enters the home, takes off their shoes then are then asked if they would like some tea. Is that a culture of Turkey or a tradition passed down by generations. Do you see my confusion? Who can help me? Maybe if you live in a different country than I do you can give me an example similar to what I've seen about Turkey but a culture? of your country or would it be a custom of your country?
I have to tag @Lola_Pop and if she has a few minutes maybe she can also help me. She gave me the idea of the story but I need to get these definitions straight in my mind so the story is believable.

So would it be a country custom of taking off your shoes? I think I'm starting to understand tradition a bit better from what you wrote that tea would be a tradition. So that has to be either families creating the tradition and it spread across the country. I have to go online now to google to see if offering tea in Turkey has a history of how it started. If I get an answer I'll be back!!

Turkish tea is not just a strong dark red brew served in a tulip shaped glass, it’s a tradition that revolves around hospitality. Wherever you go in Turkey, it’s traditional to be offered a cup of Turkish tea as a sign of welcome, whether you’re at someone’s home, a shop, or even the hairdresser.
So maybe for the story I need to stay away from the "culture" and just write about the traditions. BUT, in my story I found a bunch of taboos regarding the differences in some countries such as how we shake hands, etc. I definitely want to include that in the story. I don't know why I am so hung up on using the word culture.

I think I am finally finding the right track for this story. I just found an article 15 traditions from different countries that surprised the whole world. After seeing those Turkish stories I wanted to learn more about the different countries. Maybe I better get the word "culture" out of the story or I will totally become permanently confused!
