Below is the kind we find in India in almost all the houses -- in variety of colors -- Pink, Dark Pink, Light Pink, Red, Dark Red, Light Red, Maroon, Yellow, White and Orange both light and dark shades 
Indians use the Hibiscus in many ways -- (in India) We boil the flowers in Coconut oil and apply it everyday for softer and healthier hair; It gives a sweet natural fragrance to the oil too -- Natural perfume
We also use the flowers for our daily prayers (in the Temples or at home)!
In olden days, the leaves were used by our elders along with the Shampoo -- not the store bought shampoo... we have a dried fruit which is supposed to be cracked and soaked in hot water for 1/2 hour. Then when we squeeze it, nice foamy liquid comes out to wash the hair -- again natural & healthy
Apparently this is called "Soap Nut" (did not know that)... this is what I am talking above when I mentioned "dried fruit"
