As they begin their walk home, Tiffi tells Kimmy that she has been reading some articles about spring and changes that take place in the spring. She tells her that she found information on trees that blossom early and even the birds begin their chirping in early spring. She tells her about the birds that migrate in the winter and return in the spring. But what she is most surprised to learn is that spring is generally considered the period between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Defined by the angle of Earth's tilt toward the sun, astronomical spring relies on equinoxes and solstices to define it.

Equinoxes are special days during the year when day and night are almost equal. There are two equinoxes, one in the spring and one in the fall. The spring, or vernal, equinox occurs around March 20 in the Northern Hemisphere and around September 22 in the Southern Hemisphere.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), spring is one of two times when the Earth's axis is not pointed toward or away from the sun. In the Northern Hemisphere, the North Pole is tipped at its greatest angle toward the sun during the summer solstice, which occurs around June 21. In the Southern Hemisphere, around December 21, it is the South Pole's turn to be nearer. As such, in the Northern Hemisphere, astronomical spring runs from March 21 to June 21, while in the Southern Hemisphere it encompasses September 21 to December 21, thought the dates may shift slightly from year to year. You can read more here

Now that is some fascinating information!

Upon arriving home, Tiffi begins to prepare dinner since Dad will be home shortly. Kimmy sets the table and Tiffi grabs a bunch of fishies and puts them in a large bowl for the two of them. The evening goes by quickly and it’s time to get some sleep.
