Why is the Lunar New Year costume Chinese?

Hello. Thank you for your hard work. I am a Candy Crush Friends user and a citizen reporter for the internet media OhmyNews (https://www.ohmynews.com).

The Lunar New Year event special stage of Candy Crush Friends is currently in progress. However, the Lunar New Year costume of the character(Tiffi) that appears here is obviously Chinese. She is wearing a Chinese cheongsam and a traditional Chinese hat, and there are traditional Chinese red lanterns in the background.

Korea also has Lunar New Year and has traditional costumes called hanbok. Candy Crush Friends is providing services in Korea in the Korean version and is holding a Lunar New Year event. However, it is incomprehensible that the character's costume and background are Chinese.

I strongly urge that this be changed to the correct traditional Korean costume. And I have a few questions. I will write an article on OhmyNews with the answers to the questions, and I will write an article even if you do not answer.

  1. Who designed the costumes and backgrounds of this Lunar New Year character, and what did they reference? When referencing, did they only refer to traditional Chinese clothing and not to Korean clothing?
  2. In recent years, China has been insisting that everything in East Asia belongs to China under the name of 'cultural engineering'. They claim that kimchi is Chinese food, hanbok is the clothing of Chinese ethnic minorities, and hanok is a Chinese architectural style. These are groundless claims, and Koreans are very concerned about this and even angry. Were there any requests or pressures from the Chinese government, organizations, or companies when designing the character's costumes?
  3. According to the community records, it seems that the same event was held last Lunar New Year, and the same Chinese-style Tiffi character was used at that time. Has there been any issue regarding this?
  4. Does Candy Crush Friends, which is available in Korean, have any intention of changing the costumes and backgrounds of the Chinese-style Tiffi character to Korean ones? And do they have any intention of apologizing to Korean users?

These are the four questions above. Please answer them quickly.

Hello @๋ž„๋ผ๋ž„๋ผ and Welcome to our Community. The Lunar New Year Tiffi costume is the same for all players. I play in the United States and have the same costume in my scrapbook as others in this community. I will pass your questions and concerns on to our Community Manager.
