Me too, same issue. It is very frustrating. It is suppose to be Candy Crush With Friends! This would be like playing Words With Friends with NO Friends.1

To get lives, you will have to send requests to your friends in the game. If you have less friends OR only few of your friends are playing that game, then try to create a"King Account". Then random players can appear on your game & you will have more helping friends
