As far as the game starting back to the beginning, just hit the back button on your device you should go back to level your playing.

That didn't work for me on either the iPad or iPhone . Frustrating & annoying when I think of the time, lives & bonuses I've wasted trying to pass an impassable level.Play it on Facebook.
You'll get candies on left side in the 4th column, passed easily.
