With the loss of being to play previous levels to earn boosters, there's no way I'm going to pay to try and pass this level in 17 moves. Guess I have reached the end of my candy crush game.

Hi @Khaos, you really don't have to purchase anything, even though I have at times.  Have you ever tried the Sugar Drop challenge.  You can win up to 13 free boosters every 8 hours.  You can read more about it here:

That is how most players get those free boosters, so if you haven't tried it then give it a try.
