When you complete a full ranking you are rewarded with 5 new lives.
Unfortunately if you already have lives available say 3 it only increases to 5 as that's the maximum.
May I propose that your reward of 5 lives is given to you once you finish your existing lives.
Therefore you benefit with the full reward.
