Why has Candy Crush as a whole never had a playable male protagonist?

I just noticed 3 of the 4 Candy Crush games have a female protagonist (Tiffi for Vanilla, Kimmy for Soda And Jenny for Jelly) yet all male characters are sidekicks. Has there been a reason why those 3 feature girls? I mean, a male protagonist would be nice to change up the "Girls in a Candy World" thing and Mr. Toffee is proof males can end up in the Candy Kingdom (this is revealed in one of Friends Saga's trivia bits during a loading screen).

And before anyone says Dach, Yeti or any other male character in Friends, not counting them as Friends has Tiffi as the mascot of that one.
