You should be able to "bank" free lives given when finishing a level when yours is full. It's not cool you lose those if you already have 4 lives. Or is there something I am missing on how to do this?

You aren't missing anything as you are right. When you win free lives and you already have lives your lives only get topped up to five and any surplus is lost.

It has always been this way and for some reason King don't want to change this obviously incorrect way of providing free lives.

Unfortunately for you, and everyone else, the subject of lives has been banned as an idea as you can see below
