I read a complaint about level 4444 last night in Support. Woke up this morning thinking of how this reminds me of a story I used to know as a child....what was it just? Then it came to me: Goethe's "Der Zauberlehrling". For those unfamiliar with German literature, this poem was used by Walt Disney in "Phantasia" an Mickey Mouse as the sorcerer's apprentice.
The lesson? Too much of a good thing can be disasterous.
So back to level 4444. Unchanged for at least 4 years, never complained about before. A strategic level: Remove the blockers in the right order to release the dragons (formerly the cherries)
Fail on your first try and the AI sends you the lucky board.

Only, it doesn't help at all! The strategy should be to remove the blockers on the left side first, so the striped candies drop and then use these to remove the blockers on the right. But instead the board goes mental and just bashes candies about here there and everywhere. The AI just sends in the wrapped candies and colour bombs to help, but makes the level unwinnable. Swamped by special candies....
Again and again I am left with a board like this:
Even a UFO won't rescue that poor dragon on the bottom row now.....

So my point is: Letting the Sourcerer's Apprentice (the AI) loose on the old levels is perhaps not the best choice of how to run this game. Surely this is not how the level is meant to play out. Lucky boards are supposed to help a player to pass, not ruin their strategy. What has this game come to!
Anyone out there fancy giving this level a try and see if they encounter the same problem? Do all players get this frenzied lucky board now?

Ah, if anything, it's brought back some long forgotten memories of a Goethe masterpiece I once knew.
Knowing King's AI, they'll probably edit the literature quotes out as it's "not in the English language".

Hi Christine I had a go and completed it on my second attempt. No sign of a frenzied lucky board, but it was definitely a lucky board as colour bombs were showing up everywhere and I received two colour bombs side by side twice.
I don't know if it means anything, but on my second attempt I received three extra moves from you and I completed the level on my very last move.
Related, maybe is that my level 5000 looks nothing like yours.
I had a go too, completed it on my 5th attempt.
Although the board is certainly volatile with many color bombs dropping, on my winning attempt it was manageable.
I got a double color bomb combo and expected it to cause the dragon to slide down to the bottom, but it didn't happen.
I won with 1 move left. The board that didn't explode every combo I tried to set up WAS my lucky board I think 🙂
Oh my! Thanks for posting that! Your level 5K looks quite dull really. Maybe they are working on finding a completely new more worthy replacement of the old frog level, now that they have decided that the frog is too challenging for the new generation of Candy Crush players. They had a similarly boring interim board for level 2000, I seem to remember, after they got rid of the old go-to fun level 2000 a while ago, but then changed it soon after to something more worthy of a milestone level.
Thanks very much also for testing out the frenzied 4444 level. It sounds like you passed exactly the same way I did, on the last move with the 3 extra moves. I also had a double colour bomb at one point during the level.
Thanks for trying it out and posting those screenshots @MannyFae ! I am surprised the dragon didn't slide down for you after those two colour bombs exploded, I could swear it landed on the bottom for me when I carried out a similar maneuvre, but it is just so unpredictable sometimes, this game.
