In App Purchase - Giving up ads for life?

Is it true that once you make an in app purchase, you can NEVER receive ads again? I know some games would allow gamers to receive ads 2 or 3 weeks later if a purchase is not made again.

For me ads came back after a few months. There is no guarantee and you definitely need to make no further purchases.
