Tips on how to play Candy Crush in 2025

Many of the official tips are now out of date so I have used my experiences of the past few months to rewrite my tips:

Levels 1-3000 have all been redesigned and all play pretty much the same.Ā This also applies to most levels in the 3000-6000 range and the same methods of play can be used for all. By following these rules I have played many games and never had to spend any money.

These are my tips for anyone starting to play Candy Crush in 2025:Ā

  1. Do not spend your gold until you reach level 200. You will need to have gold in your account when you reach levels 205 and over. Before this the game will let you win every level eventually within the moves given. Replay the levels until you pass.Ā
  2. Try to win every episode race to earn theĀ gold bars. Every player can win this, the opposition is just recordings picked by King for you to "compete" against. It is all about the time it takes you from starting to the finish. So never start a new episode (i.e. pass the first level) unless you have time to play all 15 levels. Candy Crush cannot be played without having gold bars. So use them wisely. I would recommend to never spend them on a level not marked with a skull, for if you do you will run out. Unmarked levels will usually give you a lucky board to help you pass within a few attempts.Ā
  3. Don't be fooled to keep your win streak at all costs. Many levels are designed to be impossible on the first try but will then be easy on the second try ( especially the earliest levels 1-200)
  4. Mechanisms to pass most levels depend on making combos of special candies. Many legendary levels are impossible to pass unless you make a colour bomb/wrap, colour bomb/stripe/ or several wrap/striped combos. If the game does not drop the right candies for you to make these combos you will not pass. For such levels (normally marked legendary or nightmarishly hard) you need to keep gold in your account to pay for extra moves. If you get close enough use the gold on your first attempt. If you are not close then forfeit the level and replay it until the game offers you enough moves for 10 gold.Ā
  5. To improve your chances of passingĀ legendary and nightmarishly hard levelsĀ always play starting colour bomb and wrap/stripe for these on your first attempt. But only on your first attempt!. The first try on these levels is always your best chance to pass: You will have the win streak booster as well as the pre level boosters. The game takes this into account and may allow you get close or to pass with these. If you get close use a booster or pay gold to pass. If you fail then do not waste any more boosters on these levels! Once failed replay until you can pass with extra moves and pay the gold for these.Ā
  6. And of course I must not forget this one: If you get to watch ads for free moves or boosters in your game do not make a purchase with real money: The moment anyone spends real money in the game the ads disappear.Ā

    Next tip:

Play the right booster at the right time

Anyone thinking of playing Candy Crush in 2025 without boosters, think again: You will be bored out of your mind. You might as well stop playing. Candy Crush is meant to be played with boosters and it will not be enjoyable to play any other way.

To play boosters wisely you will need a feel of the game. The booster that is required is part of each board design and if you play the wrong boosters they will be wasted. Here is an example:

I have a timed UFO from the daily win. When should I play it?

At this point above it looks bad for me as there is a lot of frosting left and not many moves. If I play the UFO now I might risk it going for the bubble gum, which will pop soon anyway. I want my UFO to go for the frosting. So I wait and match candies to pop the bubble gum first.

Now I have 5 moves left and the "end of level" algorithm will have kicked in. I believe if I play a UFO now it will go for the right candies to help me pass.

From this point on I hope that the game will give me the chance to pass if I make the correct moves. So here I pause before each move to see what opportunities might come.

In fact at this point I played a seemingly random move that the game suggested as I did not see any obvious opportunity to clear the remaining jelly. These are my final moves and I do get the chance pass on my last move: The seemingly random suggested move turned out to be the right one. The game prompted me to win because I had used the UFO at the moment that the game required me to do so. In those last few moves the game notes what boosters we play and if it is the one the algorithm requires it will allow us to pass.

    In general:

Boosters are often wasted if played in the middle of a level. Unless you see an opportunity to finish a level early I would recommend this:

Play a double colour bomb if available as a first move, but just before you strike it check the mechanism for winning. There are very few levels left in the game now (some dragon levels, especially if there are yellow keys) where this will break the mechanism. Any non dragon level it's practically always your best first move. So if you can use a hand switch to bring two colour bombs side by side, it's a great way to help pass a legendary level.

Lollipop hammers and UFOs are best kept for the last few moves of a level. There seems to be an algorithm/mechanism in those last few moves that determines which booster, if played, will help pass a level. Don't waste them in the middle of levels thinking you can out-trick the game: The game sets the rules and if we play boosters that were not intended by the design they will just be wasted.

Thanks everyone. I don't use advertisements in my gameplay, but for those who do like to use ads and are lucky enough to have them in their games, here is a link to some good tips:
