Have you already got a lot of lives stored Jules? If you have not used all of your lives and the number of lives you have stored is greater than your storage limit then you will not receive anymore lives.
If your mailbox says something like 203/150, 115/100, 89/50, 63/30 then you will never receive any new lives regardless of how many are sent to you by your friends.
The number after the / represents how many lives you are allowed to store and the number before the / represents how many lives you have. If the number of lives you have is greater than how many you are allowed to store then you can't receive any new lives at all.
Once the number of lives you have falls below the number of lives you are allowed to store you will start to receive lives again. You will only ever receive 10% of your storage limit in one day though. That is, if your storage limit is 100 you will only ever receive ten lives from your friends in a day no matter how many they send you.

There have been some changes in the Candy Crush Saga game related to lives exchanges, and this change is divided by several groups. You can request as many lives as you want from friends in one day, but the total number of lives performances you will receive per day from friends is selected by your group.If you have the opportunity to get 5 lives per day, then you can not receive more than 5 lives in one day.
