Here's a new version of my cute baby gummy dragon fan art that tries to be more visually faithful to the in-game graphics by tracing over actual images of them. As always, the crying and baby-dressed ones were made up, with the former being based on an altered version of a yawning baby dragon.
I also made some huge, crazy new fan art in which I arrange dozens of these cute hatchlings to spell out a word in a made-up level from the game. Look and be amazed!
Observe that in both pictures, I've faithfully reproduced the egg collectors on the bottommost row, which are free of hatchlings since they cannot remain there because that would be where they'd leave the board in the absence of a restraining blocker.
"Don't worry! We guarantee a soft landing!"
But what if there wasn't a soft landing because, say, the egg collector didn't work? This picture below would be the result.
Poor thing may never walk again after breaking their entire lower body's skeleton from such a big fall.
The idle animations of the baby dragons are nice. However, I've observed that the moment a dragon breaks out of an egg after being dropped off the board is not well animated. According to this still, note that in the split second before the dragon breaks out of the egg, broken egg pieces suddenly appear while the egg is intact, which then shatters instantly without animating its constituent pieces.
Was this a design choice not to use detailed animation for the dragons breaking out of the eggs?
Want to make a dragon hatchling rescue more exciting? Here's how I would do it in these two painstakingly screenshot fan art recreations! For starters, let's change the baby dragons in the tutorial so that they're dressed like human babies!
Once you dismiss the tutorial and start playing, look who's watching you from the HUD now: it's Izzy herself and she is counting on you to save all 51 of those gummi dragons...in 30 moves. Cool?
Here's more fan art of pacifiers failing to stop baby dragons from crying out of eggs or wearing diapers/color bomb onesies.
And here's more fan art of them sleeping on their bellies once they're out of their eggs for good.
