The features might be temporarily unavailable as features come and go. They are not the permanent part of the game and can be replaced or unavailable at any time. Always keep your game up to date and hopefully it might returns to your game

That issue with the Sweet Cinema feature is not new, and many players were experiencing it! I think that was one of the reasons, that the Candy game Studio brought in "Treasure Hunt" feature.
It is a similar feature to Sweet Cinema, but with few more boosters and extra tiles/areas to dig (instead of opening the candy wrapper)!
Coming back to the issue you are experiencing with Sweet Cinema -- which device are you using to play the game? Do you have the latest version of the App? Also the operating software on your device - is it the latest version? The reason I am asking is, if we have the old version, the game does not receive new features!!
And, no! We do not need to spend money in the game. I do not know when you started playing this game, but when I started about 10 years ago, we did not have Ads, extra incentives, or any special features!! I know many players who are my friends that did not buy anything, still played the game! Once in a while, we did use the Gold Bars that were achieved in the game.
Even the game team assures that we can play the game without spending any money. Please see THIS article. You can access the Help center through your game too --> Pink Cogwheel -- ? icon -- You will be Help Center. Take a look at the articles that interest you🍫🍫

There is a thread that might answer your question as it does relate to watching video ads for boosters. Yours is a very common complaint and basically the answer by King is that they keep changing player's games at random as they please, so you can't expect your game to ever stay the same.
To answer your question more bluntly, of course they want you to spend money to buy boosters. It is a business and set out to make a profit. Ads don't bring in as much profit for them as players spending money. However, if for you the enjoyment and challenge comes from playing the game without buying, it is possible and many of us have played without ads and without paying anything for years. Check out the discussions forum where we often post tips and thoughts on how to do this.
