It seems that you have encountered the same event as me, and the rewards have been changed from golden epic balls to pink rare balls.
"4 in a row" and "Rescue Buddies" are also no longer able to invite friends.
Some recent activity revisions have reduced the amount of help players can get from friends and limited the number of boosters, which has virtually increased the difficulty.

The chat is very sensitive with words, It’s annoying, I used to hate it, but now, it seems to be better.
About shipmate, Pitty said they have changed, now I only get the pin when I pass a level. Therefore, I can only play on Fridays when new levels appear. The rewards are not so great either.
