Should have quoted, was referring more to the number of players. Allowing more people to pass making it "easier" in that regard.
As for levels, I make no judgments outside of:
I would never think the late entry strategy can work in this round, but it seems to be working.
I started yesterday, 39 hours from the end. By that time, it seems that almost everyone had entered the competition, and there were only six players listed on the leaderboard.
The number gradually grew as new players showed up, and it took about an hour to fill the group with 20 players.
I played 4 episodes, averaging 84,000 points per episode, which is pretty good, as I only managed around 68,000-70,000 per episode in earlier rounds.
Our group's activity had almost stopped by the time I finished playing. Not much was happening while I was asleep either, and I found myself still in first position in the morning.
I don't really know what to expect from players starting this late, but it doesn't seem like anyone is going to score millions of points here. I'll play more later today, and it appears that I can win.
Fantastic @MannyFae ! I am so pleased you hit on the right strategy, when the rest of us failed. Watch out anyway, but I'm sure you'll be watching the opposition carefully.
All the more reason to kick myself. I'm on a three hour train journey in the midst of a family holiday, and could have used that time to get myself into the 2nd knockout round if I had known. Please do keep an eye on the leaderboards in the next round for me. The maths are now just confounding me. If there are practically unlimited leaderboards still with just 20 players and one in 20 going through to the next round, then how many players will go into that round and how can they reduce that field to just 10 leaderboards groups by round 3. Anyone have any idea?
If what I'm reading is correct and 25k people move to the next round, and they do 20 people again, only #1 goes forward, meaning 95% lose. That leaves 1,250 people left. Can't they just have 10 leader boards with 125 people. Same math no matter how many are in the next round for 50k 100k etc...
I would have never tried if it wasn't for your post, Christine. Many thanks for that and for all other immensely useful information you post here. I totally believed that it's going to be a very tough and grueling round, and decided not to bother and just wait until it's over. It's a shame that you started all three accounts so early, but who would've known? This tournament is just so strange. I now agree with @Alienscar that the normal rules of knockout competitions do not apply here. I'm very curious about what the next round is going be like, but I tend to think there will be much more than 500 people in Final Knockouts 3.
