I always play on old versions for nostalgia and mainly to play landscape with old music and sound efftects.
I was playing like usual and then my worst nightmare happened…
I got this pop up that forces you to update the game and it can’t be closed… just like the curse that is candy royal on the latest versions…
It still let me play for about an hour and then I got this. No matter how many times I close and re-open the app this message is always there and won’t go away.
Why must this be a thing??? I am only hurting myself by playing the old versions since I can’t play in the latest events. What is the point of forcing me to update? It makes no sense. This also means very old versions with dreamworld won’t be playable anymore…
RIP classic candy crush 2012-2024 This is the worst day of my life.

I totally get your love for the classic version… it’s like a sweet trip down memory lane!
We do sometimes need to update the game to make sure everyone gets the best experience possible, with all the latest features and important security updates.
While I understand it’s frustrating to move away from the version you're attached to, these updates are crucial to keeping the game smooth and secure for everyone.

Thank you for the reply! But unfortunately I can’t stand portait mode so i am probably just gonna end up quitting.
I know it is not your decision on what gets into the game so im not gonna make a big deal out of it.
I had a lot of fun playing this game for over 10 years but I guess this is the end. I am gonna miss this game.

They are basically SOL.
Microsoft is likely removing support for any OS/browser that is no longer supported as they are massive security risks. They also might be modernizing the code base for security and features.
It is very common for online content and Microsoft is leaning very heavily into cyber security. (The suggested "correction" for cyber is hilarious. No I do not mean that thank you auto correct.

Hello from Germany,
I have the same issue here. I was playing candy crush since years and I´m already on level 9429.
Today I was forced to an update and now there is the small playground on my Windows 11 PC.
I cannot play with this version. I need a bigger picture for my eyes, like it was before.
I´m very upset and dissapointed, because I have to look for an alternative game.
