today I’ve been getting many adverts which don’t grant a reward.. is it just me? They just stay on screen with no countdown or time limit

I don't think it is just you @clarelwillden as I have experienced something similar to what you describe.
It hasn't happened often but I have had a few adverts that play as you describe without a visible countdown.
I have always gained a reward though.
When an advert without a timer appears I just wait until the Find Out More button appears and when that appears an X usually also appears. Using the X provides the reward as normal.
I have also had a very small number of adverts that don't seem to end and provide a Find Out More button. When this happens I wait for at least one minute and then press the back button (on Android). This has worked to make the reward appear.
I have also had adverts that take you to their download page after pressing the X button instead of providing a reward. When this happens I just press the back button again and I usually (not always) get my reward.
If you play on a PC pressing Esc is the same as pressing the back button on Android. I don't know what the equivalent action is if you play on iOS.

Do you see a black screen OR you see an image but, the screen is frozen? If the screen is frozen, is it the same Ads that you see each time? Did you take any screenshots while the issue was present? If not, can you take a screenshot when the Ad freezes again? Please reply by typing below. To post screenshot, tap on the 2nd icon located in the bottom left corner of the comment box🍫🍫
Yes, it happens all the time. The screen goes black and the game shuts down. I've watched adds and not received the booster heaps of times. I also have issues with the game freezing and closing. I don't think anyone cares as there doesn't seem to be a solution.
