Question about adverts and how to get them?

From which level is King offering players they could watch adverts instead of paying for gold and boosters? Or is this a stupid question? Like this is only offered to players in, say, the USA? I keep reading about watching ads instead of paying (if I understand it correctly) and I'ld certainly be interested.

Ok, I've read a post from @Carol-38 where she explains that King decides who is getting adverts and that paying in the game results in not getting those adverts. So, since I'm paying for stuff I can forget about adverts. @christinewupp has also tried to tell me this, but I didn't understand then. Now I do. No question anymore.

  • Hello @Storm15 I was just writing an answer to another question from you and then the discussion disappeared. But as it took me so long to write all this I copy and paste it here anyway. I hope you don't mind. The question was how we manage to play without spending lots of money or getting stuck.

This is my answer to that:

Let me try @Storm15 . I have two separate games.

Game 1 is many years old and I am at the end of the game, level 17,540. I played the first 10,000 levels when the game was easy and fun and let us win any level if we were stuck on it, so I never spent any gold or money but waited for that lucky board. That was before 2022 and explains why some of us got to the end of the map. It's historical: The game has changed beyond recognition since we played those early levels. Levels 10,000 to 17.500 I have found a lot harder going since 2022, and some of the methods I used were taking advantage of unintended glitches in the game. I believe a lot of players who survive at these highest levels are quite creative. Most have long dropped out over the years.

Game 2 I started from scratch in April and am now just past level 4000 and have more than 10 thousand gold bars. No taking advantage of glitches and no cheating. So this is how I play:

    1. Play when the going is good. King change the difficulty of entire episodes regularly and the game tends to be easiest on a Monday and get harder on Wednesday to Thursday. Don't ask me why, but a lot of us have observed this. Generally King make levels easier just before major leaderboard competitions and often harder during such competitions. If I can see they make levels hard I pause. If I see levels are easy to pass and the game is fun I play a lot more.
    2. When I start a new game from scratch I save up all the boosters and gold from events until I reach the first legendary level at level 215. The best strategy for the first 200 levels is be patient and wait for a lucky board to allow us to pass with no boosters, as it will come eventually most weeks.
    3. Levels 215 to 260. Here the legendary levels start and they require a different strategy from normal levels. I save my starting boosters for legendary and nightmarishly hard levels and don't use them on normal levels unless I happen to have timed boosters.
    4. Legendary levels I always play starting boosters on my first attempt. Sometimes with the win streak boosters this is enough to pass. If on my starting board I see a double colour bomb or colour bomb/wrap combo I play this, otherwise I play the first move the game suggests. Then I play any move possible that will make a striped or wrapped candy or a colour bomb. I scan the whole board: Any wrap or stripe I can make, I make it. (Even if it's not obvious yet it may help create a cascade later.) If I can make any combo of wrap, stripe or colour bomb, then I make it. If I can't see a chance to make a special candy or combo I play whichever move destroys the most blockers. If there is no obvious good move at all I make the move the game suggests. I pause two or three moves from the end to check if I can pass using a lollipop hammer or hand switch and use it. Usually on legendary levels the game allows us to get closest on our first attempt. If I fail but see that I can definitely pass in 5 more moves I pay the 10 gold to play on, (only on legendary levels). Otherwise I give up and try again, wasting NO boosters on any further attempts. Once the game offers me 35 or more extra moves for 10 gold bars, then I pay to move past that level. That seems to be the only strategy for legendary levels. The game will either help us to pass or we will fail whatever we do because the wrong candies drop, and we have to accept that this is how King have designed the level and we are set up to fail.
    5. Level 261 onwards, same strategy for the legendary levels. Try to win every episode race from now on. Levels ending with the digit 5 tend to be legendary and for those I play starting boosters and use the strategy outlined above. I play each episode in one sitting so I will definitely win it.
    6. Never spend more than 10 gold bars to play on and don't get hung up on clinging onto a win streak.
    7. Take advantage of events: Always get to the top of Season Pass and Don't Feed the Troll, as you can play old levels for these. The Troll gives us three party poppers and three UFOs over one weekend, just for replaying an easy level like level 1000, over and over. Each UFO or party popper can be used to pass one legendary level, instead of using gold. When I get to the gold chocolate box it will pay me 30 gold bars each time I fill it. I fill the first three chocolates using old "go-to" levels (Level 1000 is good for all the chocolate box orders). If I know I am due the sixth daily win I try to fill the first three chocolates of the gold chocolate box by playing old levels so I can use the timed UFOs or timed party popper to fulfil the order for the last chocolate. By filling the gold chocolate box each episode I can earn 70 gold each episode (30 from the chocolate box and 40 from the champions race). I spend less than that per episode, so I continue to make more and more gold bars.

I hope this answers your question.

Hello @christinewupp. The post you mentioned, that disappearing was my doing. Reading it again I thought: Bleh. Wining. I still think it was because after playing CC over a number of years (with big periods of absence inbetween) I already have some idea what kind of game it is and that it's designed to rip us from as much money as possible. So why complain? There are lots of other less money consuming games. And in fact: I have left CC aside in the past for almost six years when my husband was ill from a progressive, terrible disease. I had quite enough to do and on my mind and certainly enough to pay for all the medical necessities. But the idea to play CC spending almost no money never left my mind since I saw my husband accomplish that (he played, being condemned to his wheelchair and bed, from the beginning and even reached the (for that period) last level with a huge stock of goldbars, boosters and lives left. And he really had fun playing CC because it effectively distracted him from all the mysery of his illness. But when I started playing again, say two years ago, CC had changed immensely. And now that I'm reading your information (great post Christine, really, you're a tremendous community member) I know I'll never be able to play like my late husband did because that has become impossible. Also, reading how you have made yourself smart in the gameplay, I already know I'll never try to catch up. Too impatient with matching games (I'm much more an action-adventure player) and often too annoyed as well by the money grabbing King style.(Somebody somewhere on this forum told a disappointed CC player to be 'thankful' but whatever for exactly I wonder???). I will surely try to follow up some of your advices, certainly, because stubborn me hasn't given up CC yet (won't be too long though I think but we'll see) but the kind of CC pro you clearly are I'll never become. Thanks for this post, really. It has done me good as a person.

  • Thank you so much for that kind reply. I am sorry to hear of the sad loss of your husband, that must have been a very tough time for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and hope to see you still around in this community when I come back from holidays.

Hey! Would you like to give us your opinion?
