If there is anyone out there who thinks Candy Crush is better off without chocolate: Think again.
Chocolate adds variety to the game. Chocolate allows players to use their brains and make their own decisions.
Chocolate adds visually to the game. It's a fun element that looks tasty and sweet.
I absolutely hate the new rewrite.
I had to change my rating in the app store to one star.
This is rather sad after I have spent months here trying to support what I thought was a fun game for new players.
On top of this, many of the rewritten levels are now broken. Replacing chocolate with frosting seems to break some of the mechanisms allowing players to pass. Has anyone managed to pass this version of level 4825 yet?
I have revisited some of the recently changed levels and have developed a theory to answer my own question, as King do not even acknowledge that chocolate is being written out of the game.
Chocolate is written out of the game because it is an element the level designers cannot control. It is up to the players to make a decision whether to leave it to grow or hit it to remove it. Therefore it gives control to the player and takes it away from King. King have changed many more levels to now leave players exactly one lollipop short of passing. That is one of the main methods by which the game tries to control our spending (boosters, gold and ultimately real money). Chocolate gets in the way of this.
Hello Christine, I don't know about the lower levels, but I am still getting chocolate in my games, 8237 and 8239 which I just played had chocolate and some of the others at this level. Happy Crushing 🙂
Thanks for pointing this out. They have not removed all the chocolate on all the levels, and there is still some on the new releases at the top of the game as well, but there has been systematic removal of chocolate up to about level 3000 I think and also some selected levels beyond, where the process has been more ad hoc and a slower process. Level 6381 for example has had the chocolate order changed to frosting at some point in the past 8 months. It takes a lot of detective work to find which levels have been altered and which have not. The harder chocolate order levels have been affected primarily, while levels where the chocolate is easily destroyed and of little relevance to the outcome have not been altered…..yet. It is not clear if King just have not got round to rewriting those later levels yet.
