Why dont my friends send me lives anymore and why dont they ask for lives?

I used to get so many lives from friends, I never had to stop playing, up until about 2 weeks ago. Now I don't get lives, nor request for lives. I think they want you to buy them. Either way, I am glad because the less I play, the less money I spend.

I am playing on the same mobile I've been playing on for the last couple of years, when fish went where you needed them to go and you could make special candies to pair with the spotted ones and the didn't go off until you wanted them too. Also when your friends would send you lives so you never had yo buy any.
